What this policy covers
This privacy policy explains how Bob Manthy, LPC ("Bob," "I," "my") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit bobmanthy.com or use the contact form on this site.
Information collected
When you visit this site: This site sets no cookies and carries no advertising trackers, no social media scripts, and no cross-site tracking of any kind. Two things do happen automatically, and they are worth naming plainly. The hosting platform, Cloudflare, counts page views using its own cookieless analytics, which records the page and general details like browser type and country but does not set an identifier or follow you between sites. And the site's typefaces are served by Google Fonts, so loading a page makes a request to Google that includes your IP address, in the same way that loading any image from another website would.
When you use the contact form: If you submit the consultation form on the Schedule page, you provide your name, email address, the state you're located in, and any message you choose to write. Your message goes to Bob by email and is not saved on this website at all. Your name, email, state, the page you sent it from, and whether the email got through are saved in a database run by Cloudflare, so that a message that fails to send can be found and answered by hand rather than disappearing. Nothing else is recorded: not your IP address, not your browser.
When you request the guide: If you sign up for "The Capable Person's Trap" guide, your name and email are emailed to Bob so he can send it to you. Nothing from that form is stored on this website, and you are not added to any list.
How your information is used
Your information is used only to respond to your inquiry or to send you the resource you requested. It is not sold, shared, or used for marketing unless you specifically ask to be added to a mailing list, which does not currently exist.
Email and communication
Messages sent through the contact form are delivered using Amazon Web Services (SES), and they arrive in an ordinary email inbox. Email is not a secure medium and this website is not covered by HIPAA. Please write only what you would be comfortable putting in an email, and save clinical details for the consultation or a session, where they belong.
How long information is kept
Contact form entries stay in the database until they are deleted. There is no automatic expiry, and there is no schedule for clearing them; if you want yours removed, ask and it will be. Emails live in Bob's own mailbox under whatever retention that provider applies.
Counseling records
This policy covers bobmanthy.com only, and this website is not where counseling happens. Bob Manthy is licensed as a professional counselor in Colorado only. If you become a client, your counseling records are kept separately, under Colorado law and the ethics rules that govern Licensed Professional Counselors, on systems built for that purpose. None of it is stored on this website. Sending the contact form does not make you a client and does not create a therapeutic relationship.
Third parties
This site embeds no advertising, no tracking pixels and no social media scripts. Four companies are involved in running it, and each has its own privacy practices: Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the contact form entries, Google provides both the booking calendar embedded on the Schedule page and the typefaces, and Amazon Web Services delivers the email. Opening the booking calendar is a visit to Google, and booking a time creates a calendar entry with Google in the ordinary way.
Your rights
You can ask for the contact information you gave through this site to be deleted, by emailing [email protected], and you'll get confirmation once it's done. You can also ask what is held about you. This does not affect counseling records, which are kept separately and are governed by the rules below.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
