What Rebuilding Seminars is
Rebuilding Seminars is a structured, in-person group program for adults going through separation and divorce. It meets in person in Boulder, Colorado. Bob Manthy has facilitated it in Boulder for 15 years.
The program didn't start with Bob. It's built on the work of Dr. Bruce Fisher and Robert Alberti, whose book Rebuilding: When Your Relationship Ends has been the trusted resource on divorce recovery for decades. Fisher developed a model that maps the emotional stages of ending a relationship as a series of building blocks a person climbs, one at a time, from the first shock through to genuine freedom on the other side. Bob facilitates that curriculum. He didn't create it, and he's careful to credit the people who did.
The group meets over a set number of weeks, works through the blocks in sequence, and gives people a shared, guided path through one of the harder experiences an adult goes through. It isn't a lecture series and it isn't a drop-in support circle. It's a structured process with a beginning, a middle, and a clear direction.
Who Rebuilding helps
People in the middle of a separation or divorce
If your relationship is ending or has recently ended, the program gives you a structure for the part nobody prepares you for: the grief, the confusion, the identity questions, and the practical work of putting a life back together. You don't have to figure out the order of it on your own.
People who want a process, not just sympathy
Some people want to talk about the pain. Others want a map through it. Rebuilding is for the second kind. Fisher's building-block model is specific about what comes first, what comes next, and what it looks like to actually move forward instead of circling the same few feelings.
People who do well in a group
Part of what helps in Rebuilding is being in a room with other people going through the same thing. The isolation of divorce is real, and sitting with others who understand it firsthand does something that reading about it can't. The group is the method, not a side effect.
People who can meet in person in Boulder
This is an in-person program held in Boulder, Colorado. It's a fit if you can get to the sessions and want the accountability and connection that come with showing up in a room. If in-person isn't possible for you, Bob's online individual counseling is a separate option worth a conversation.
How Rebuilding differs from Bob's online counseling
Bob offers two distinct things. It's worth being clear about which one you're considering, because they work differently and they're built for different situations.

Fifteen years of facilitating this work
Bob has facilitated Rebuilding Seminars in Boulder for 15 years. That length of time matters in group work. It means the way he runs the room, holds the harder sessions, and helps a group move through the blocks has been refined by facilitating it, season after season, with real people.
Bob brings his clinical background as a Licensed Professional Counselor to the facilitation, alongside an unusual path that includes years as a software engineer and time as a nuclear engine operator in the Navy. But in Rebuilding, he's a facilitator of Fisher and Alberti's program. The credit for the model belongs to its creators. You can read more about Bob's background on the about page.
The program's origins
Rebuilding was developed by Dr. Bruce Fisher, a therapist who spent his career studying how people recover from the end of a relationship, and later co-authored with Robert Alberti. Their book, Rebuilding: When Your Relationship Ends, is the foundation of the program, and it's been in print for decades as a widely used guide to divorce recovery.
You can learn more about Fisher's model and the broader Rebuilding approach at the official site, rebuilding.org. Bob's seminar in Boulder is one place where that curriculum is facilitated in person.
